18th August 2025 Daily Video Game Gossip
Here are our favorite video game headlines for the day.
Our Thoughts
AI Ads for Nexon
The worst thing about all this is that they tried to play it off like people actually volunteered to create ads for them as some sort of a competition. OR, the person making the PR statement is just ignorant to the facts.
Roblox
After all the recent reports, I'm definitely interested in asking my niece which games she plays on Roblox, I know she's been on the platform for a while. Thankfully, I don't think she spends too much time on the app. Still... It's 10pm, do you know where your children are?
AI in the Workplace
The headline really says it all, the nice thing about GameIndustry.biz is that they're usually pretty good about providing sources early in the article to provide the necessary context, and don't really rely on sensational statements to get clicks. People using AI because they've been told to shouldn't be a surprise.
Final Fantasy Game Breaking Bug
This is interesting, because it means that there are most likely still versions of that cart with the bug in it floating around in the wilds of Japan. It's also very possible that there may be more than one version of the rom file that potentially could contain this bug.
Show don't tell.
In this piece, Harvey isn't really picking on Veilguard, he's just using it at the most recent example. While we agree, there are plenty of contemporary examples of games that do plenty of environmental storytelling and also focus on mechanics, leaving much of the story up to the players to figure out. Unfortunately, we don't think it's the big AAA mainstream titles that are doing this, with the exception being an FromSoft Souls game.
