Today's batch of video game gossip for you! These were our favorite articles from around the web for today.

Our Thoughts

The hype train around Battlefield 6 is real. People are definitely hungry for what Battlefield 3 provided.

No doubt, GTA6 will have to be a big financial return for T2 to justify its lengthy development cycle. Granted, GTA Online has been a nice steady source of income for Rockstar, but it's been over a decade since GTAV released, and everyone is eager to see what the next evolution is going to be like.

Original PSX graphics are finally becoming a trend with indie games. A little later than I thought it would happen, I can remember debating this with a former Ubisoft artist several years back. He was adamant that pixel art was suprior and that early 32-bit 3D would never have a nostalgia moment, but here we are. He's in good company though because Koji Sugimoto thinks kids today are crazy for wanting to make their 3D games look like ones from the mid-to-late 90s.

I was off work and at home before my wife was, and so I was extremely pleased to see that there was an updated console version of Heretic + HeXen on GamePass. I played through the first level of Heretic and I might even play through the rest of the game. Looks like cheats are available.

The dialog wheel in BioWare's games was fine. I understand the hate, and it's valid criticism. As much as I prefer more cunchy and freeform dialog systems for RPGs, an option of one of three personalities is fine for a game that is more cinematic.

Nintendo had an “Indie World” Direct today. The two games that seemed to get the most attention was Mina: The Hollower and UFO 50. The only game that stuck out to me was Caves of Qud. I've had that one Steam for a while now, and I've been playing it off and on since its Early Access. I'm really curious to know if this Switch port is going to fix controller input on PC, 🤞.

Marathon too a massive hit to its reputation with art being stolen and put into publicly playable builds of the game. It has been delayed into next year, and that's probably a good thing. From what I understand, the closed “alpha” was met with minimal to no enthusiasm. Perhaps the next few months will give them time to polish it and replace the stolen textures.

I still play my Abernic RG35XXSP. Although these devices are synonymous with illegal roms and piracy, I most recently used mine to play an indie GameBoy game called Cryohazard.
